Photosharing app Vebbler, which has a presence in more than 108 countries, has raised another round of funding through LetsVenture.

In its pre-Series A round, the startup has been backed by a group of investors including Ambiga Subramanian, ex-CEO of Mu Sigma, actor Dino Morea, and popular VJ Nikhil Chinapa. The other participants in the funding round included existing investors Anupam Mittal, Sharad Sharma, Pranav Pai and Venkat Raju, and business angels Anurakt Jain, vice-president of OEM operations at InMobi, Sanjay Ramakrishnan, senior director at Flipkart, and Pranay Jivrajka, founding member at Ola.

Vebbler’s founder and chief executive Sahil Bhagat said the funds would be used for senior-level hiring and marketing. Also, Ambiga Subramanian will join the company’s board.

Sahil Bhagat launched Vebbler in 2013 as the Indian social camera. The startup raised over $500K in August 2016 and was even part of FbStart programme 2017.

Vebbler presently consists of a 15-member team across technology, marketing, and other non-tech roles.

Run by Vebbler Technologies Pvt. Ltd, the Mumbai-based startup was launched in 2013 as a social network for conversations and later tweaked its offering to a photo sharing and collaboration app.

The latest iteration of the app allows users to share photos in groups called clubs, which can only be accessed by other club members.

Prior to Vebbler, Bhagat, an alumnus of the London School of Economics, set up two startups—a crowdfunding platform called Frogster and a college-based animation and film startup called Doodle Works.
